Posterior view of a CTA 3D reformation of a double aortic arch shows an atretic segment between the left subclavian artery & the descending aorta “diverticulum” (which represents the distal left aortic arch stump). The atretic segment is a fibrous band that completes the vascular ring. Left main coronary artery atresia (LMCAA) is a rare entity that is not completely understood.
The origin of a single coronary artery from an atretic pulmonary trunk is a rare anomaly. We encountered this in an 8-day-old female newborn. The vessel representing the PA was an open, thorough channel (25 mm in length), enabling perfusion through the construct, and the atretic artery, or occluded MAPCA, was simulated by a channel closed two thirds through the structure (17.5 mm in length). Unilateral unidirectional superior cavopulmonary anastomosis in a patient with bilateral superior caval veins and atretic left pulmonary artery - Volume 29 Issue 3
An absent branch pulmonary artery was first described by Frantzel in 1868. 1 It was later found in 1954 by McKim that true absence of a branch pulmonary artery is unusual and that there was typically a ductus arteriosus origin present during fetal life. 4 and followed by others.
